With every swipe, Re:start Bank donates to Ukrainian relief efforts

Prowly | 12 August 2022

Re:Start bank team is amplifying its support of Ukraine. Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, over 12 million Ukrainians have fled their homes. Further, the World Bank has forecasted Ukraine’s GDP will shrink by 45% in 2022.
Re:Start has established a corporate donor-advised fund to make grants to charities serving Ukrainian relief efforts. Polina Shabarova, Re:Start’s community manager stated: “We have several Ukrainian staff in our bank, and we immediately looked for ways to support humanitarian relief efforts when the war started. We have launched a giving campaign where every time our bank customers swipe their debit card, Re:start donates 100% of its net income for the rest of 2022.”
Re:Start has identified several charities to support, including the Liberty Ukraine Foundation, a 501(c)3 charity, whose focus is on providing life-saving supplies and helping children overcome war trauma.
Additionally, the Re:start team has been creating resources to help Ukrainian refugees adjust to life in the United States, such as offering free English-as-a-Second-Language lessons. Re:start also has a process to allow refugees to open free bank accounts using their native Ukrainian language.
